Verbal offer promised then withdrawn after candidate quoted market-rate salary expectations

Application

The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Zomato

Interview

My interview went well and at the end they told me they wanted to make me an offer. Asked me my CTC and expected salary. I knew the salaries for web developer role thanks to glassdoor, so I referred to that figure as my expectation. They said they will get back to me, but finally did not make me an offer. They want quality people working from morning to late evening, even on weekends, but are not willing to pay in accordance with that. It is sad to learn that one of India's top startup doesn't have equal standards for all their employees. I don't think working in such an environment would have been fun.
