Interview

Zomato came to campus for recruiting Mobile Developers. They expected us to know either of the platforms, iOS Android or Windows. They also expected some basic backend knowledge in languages like HTML, Ajax, Php etc. The package offered was INR 10 lakh.

1. Which platform is better, iOS or Android ? In terms of development. Give examples to support your answer. It was not just about answering and giving examples. I had to convince him and during that process there was more cross questioning. Some iOS related questions: 2. Difference between Frame and bounds ? 3. What is ARC ? 4. Are delegates strong or weak ? 5. What are strong and weak properties ? 6. What are protocols ? 7. He asked me about real time, how to implement that in an app. 8. How did facebook implement chat heads ? 9. Some questions about Zomato app. 10.Some usual questions about managing and handling data ? After that we switched to Android : 11. Questions about layouts in Anroid. Linear Relative etc. 12. About activity life cycle ? 13. How would you pass data from 5 activities to one activity. Large chunks of data. 14. How do you pass data in Android ? 15. Intent use pass by value or reference. He asked me about which all languages do I know other than mobile. Asked me one question on SQL. 16. Difference between Inner and Outer join and which one is faster ? Some Puzzle Questions : 1. Make an 8 sided dice from a coin. 2. 10 bags with balls, one bag is defective question. 3. Toggling doors question, every door in first pass, alternate in second pass ... till 100 doors. 4. 1000 wine bottles, one is poisoned, you have 10 prisoners question. You can easily find answers to these on the web. I was able to answer 2 correctly and attempted the other two also. Reached half way in one of them. Normal HR questions : 1. What type of environment do you expect here ? 2. Why do you want to work at Zomato ?
