Expedia SDE-2 Seattle — coding + design + behavioral; reject

Had my onsite at Expedia. There were 4 rounds in total.

Round 1 :

• Directly started with a problem. It was a string related hard question (not on leetcode). I couldn't come up with a solution but at the end managed to tell the approach. That round went really bad.

Round 2 :

• It was a system design round and I was asked to give a high level design (It's a very popular question, can be found easily online). Again, there were no behavioral questions in this round. Last few minutes were kept for Q&A. Overall, this round wasn't so bad.

Round 3:

• This was a pure behavioral round and I was asked 5 questions. The interviewer was taking notes and asked few counter questions. Questions were on the topic of conflicts, technology choices, simple solution to difficult problem etc.

Round 4:

• This was the last round and I'm pretty sure it was with the HM. It started with 2 behavioral qustions and then he asked me priority queue related question (Leetcode medium). I did very well in this round.

I got a mail on next working day saying that I wasn't selected. I expected this after the disastrous first round and slightly okay second round.
